PANEL PROFILES
Mx Rib (PBR)
Mx Rib is a 36” wide panel with ribs that are 1-1/4” high and space every 12” on center. It is readily available in 24 gauge and 26 gauge steel but can be custom ordered in heavier gauges. The Mx Rib is our most popular selling panel because it offers exceptional strength yet is very economical. We typically manufacture it in 26 gauge steel with a high-tensile yield of 80,000 PSI. This high yield increases the load capacity for walkability and resistance to hail and dents.
The PBR purlin bearing leg design offers 30% more overlap, increases strength and fastener engagement which eliminates leaks. Mastic tape sealant is applied at panel lips which prevents water or air infiltration. The Mx Rib is available in a selection of attractive Energy Star Colors and the substrate is Galvalume steel which is an aluminum-zinc-silicon coating that offers superior corrosion protection. The panel’s paint comes with a 40-year warranty and is formulated to retain its luster for years to come. It is Underwriters Laboratory approved and has both a UL30 and UL90 rating for wind uplift.
Design Rib
The Design Rib panel is primarily used when trying to add an architectural accent or more modern look to your building’s walls. It is a 36” wide panel and is inventoried in 24 and 26 gauge steel but can be custom ordered in heavier gauges. We typically manufacture this panel in 26 gauge with a high-tensile yield of 80,000 KSI. This high yield increases the load capacity for walkability and resistance to hail damage and dents.
Since the fasteners are applied in the valley of the Rib, the profile of the panel partially conceals them. The Design Rib is available in a selection of attractive Energy Star approved colors and the substrate is Galvalume steel which is an aluminum-zinc-silicon alloy coating that offers superior corrosion protection. The panel’s paint comes with a 40-year warranty and is formulated to retain its luster for years to come. It is Underwriters Laboratory approved and has a UL30 and UL90 rating for wind uplift.
Secure Shield Standing Seam Roof Systems
Standing Seam roofs use “moving” clips to connect the roof panel to the main structure’s purlins. Since the panel is not directly screwed into the purlin, it allows the panel to move with thermal variations. The clip has the panel sit above the purlin and reduces compression of insulation which increases its energy efficiency. By eliminating fastener penetrations the Secure Shield roof offers superior weather tightness.
The roof panels are mechanically seamed using a seaming machine which locks the roof onto the clip. The Secure Shield system has factory pre-applied sealant at the seam and features a triple lock seam as a standard unlike most other companies’ double lock panels. For extreme wind conditions our patented roof can be quad locked for the tightest and strongest roof available anywhere.
The color coating on the roof panels is Kynar 500 and is considered the most durable finish for roof applications offered in the industry and comes with a 35-year warranty. The Secure Shield standing seam panel offers the maximum in weather tightness and energy efficiency.

Secure Shield 24 Trapezoidal
The Secure Shield 24 is a 24” wide standing seam roof panel with a trapezoidal shaped rib that forms a 3’ high seam at the rib. While more expensive than an exposed fastener metal roof, standing seam roof systems are favored by architects for their appearance and weather tightness. The panel is available in 20, 22 and 24 gauge steel but is typically manufactured in 24 gauge steel.
Secure Shield Architectural
The Secure Shield Architectural standing seam roof panel features a flat profile with a 2” high rib and comes in 16” or 18” widths. It has the most attractive appearance of our standing seam panels and because of its strength can be used on high roof pitches. The panel is available in 22 and 24 gauge steel but is typically manufactured in 24 gauge steel.
Other panel profiles and types are available upon request. If your building specifications require a panel profile or type other than the standard panels illustrated here, call and speak with an Ironbuilt building specialist at 1-800-805-0084.
